The cyber security market is of great importance to the team at Microsoft, and their future investments could go in that direction.

Since Satya Nadella took over the helm of Microsoft, the company has spent more than $ 100 billion on acquisitions. The most resounding name is the most recent one - the takeover of Activision Blizzard for almost 70 billion dollars, which regulators have yet to approve. Prior to that, the largest acquisition was LinkedIn (more than 26 billion dollars), and of the more famous names, Microsoft also bought Mojang, Bethesda, ZeniMax Media and GitHub.

The latest information suggests that Microsoft is now on the radiant of Mandiant, a company known for its cyber security software, and the cost of a potential acquisition, according to media reports, should be around $ 4.5 billion.

Cyber security is the biggest threat to companies today, Satya Nadel warned during the recent announcement of business results.

The cyber security market is currently the most interesting for Microsoft, so in addition to Mandiant, they are looking for new potential targets for downloads. Last year, they bought several smaller startups such as CloudKnox Security, RiskIQ and CyberX, and this year they are looking for new companies whose solutions they could implement in their security portfolio.

This market is especially important to them because, they explain on CNN, security is a lucrative business that constantly generates new revenue through annual subscriptions and helps Microsoft attract new corporate customers who will more easily decide to use their existing cloud solutions and services.

Last year, cyber security solutions generated more than $ 15 billion in revenue, up 45 percent from a year earlier.
